Here are some tips for choosing a collision repair center. Choosing a repair shop is your decision, not your insurer’s. Compare collision centers.
Review qualifications by asking about advanced technician training from national organizations such as the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair or the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
Look for signs indicating membership in industry associations such as the Alliance of Automotive Service Professionals, Automotive Service Association, Society of Collision Repair Specialists, or others. Check the shop’s reputation at bbb.org. Reputable shops will stand behind repairs with a warranty covering labor, materials and installation. Don’t shop for price alone. The estimate may be too low or the shop might offer poor quality “quickie” repairs. Ask for explanations of very low estimates.
